Nevada LIFE on Fetal Development

Day One

This is the day of conception.  Life Begins!  A new human life begins with one cell. This cell contains the genetic blueprint for every detail of human development – the unborn’s sex, hair and eye color, height, skin tone, and more... Nothing will be added until the old man or woman dies; except nutrition and oxygen.

Days 5-9

Implantation Occurs:  The embryo implants itself into the rich lining of the uterus and begins to draw nourishment.

Day 20

The foundations of the brain, spinal cord. and nervous system are already established.

Day 21

The heart begins to beat.

The unborn’s heart will pump his or her own blood.   Many times that blood is a different type than his or her mothers’.

Week 4

The backbone and muscles are forming.  Arms, legs, eyes, and ears begin to show.  Breathing systems are forming.  This is only two weeks after the mother misses her first period. The child is already ten thousand times larger than the fertilized egg.

5 Weeks

Five fingers can be seen in the hand. The eyes are darkening as pigmentation develops. The pancreas produces insulin.  Movement has begun.

Week 6 The mouth and lips are present; fingernails are forming.

DAY 40 Brain waves can be detected and recorded.

Week 7 Eyelids, and toes form.  You can identify the nose. The baby kicks and swims.

Week 8  Everything is now present that will be found in a fully developed adult.

Week 8 Continued:

The heart has been beating for more than a month.  The stomach produces digestive juices.  The kidneys have begun to function.  The baby has fingerprints.  His muscles are developing and he responds to touch

Pictures From The First 8 Weeks

Remember, everything is now present that will be found in a fully developed adult.

All he or she has to do is grow.

Weeks 9-11

Weeks 9 and 10: Teeth begin to form, fingernails develop.  He can turn his head, frown and hiccup.

Weeks 10 and 11:  The unborn can “breathe” amniotic fluid and urinate. She can grasp objects placed in her hand; all organ systems are functioning.  She has her own skeletal structure, nerves and circulation.

Weeks 12-15

Week 12:

All the parts necessary to experience pain are present, including nerves, spinal cord, and thalamus.  Vocal cords are complete.  He can suck his thumb.

Week 13: Fine hair begins to grow.

Week 14:  The heart pumps several quarts of blood every day.

Week 15:  The baby has an adult’s taste buds.

The Fourth Month.  The ears function.  Bone marrow forms.

The Fourth Month Continued.

She is 8-10 inches long.  Her heart is pumping 25 quarts of blood a day.

The 5th Month

The unborn is now about 12 inches long.  Movement is felt.  The baby may jump if a sound is loud or startling. Partial Birth Abortion becomes optional

The 6th Month

If the baby were born in this month and given the proper care, she could survive.

5th and 6th Months Continued

The baby practices breathing by inhaling amniotic fluid into her developing lungs. She grabs at the umbilical cord when she feels it.  Her oil and sweat glands are functioning.

5th and 6th Months Continued

Most moms feel an increase in movement, kicking, and hiccups. He’s twelve inches or longer, and weighs up to one and a half pounds.

The 9th Month

The baby is ready for birth and fully capable of life outside the womb.  However, there is no real protection for this baby.  Her mother may legally abort her for almost any reason up until the moment of her birth
