Embryonic Stem Cell Research And Cloning Page
Embryonic Stem Cell
Research and cloning may be the most important life issue
of our lifetime. These threatens to make human life a
commodity and it treats human beings as means to another
person's ends. This page provides Nevada LIFE opinions
and statements on cloning and links to leading
cloning/stem cell research sites.
Why do we oppose embryonic
stem cell research? Because embryonic stem cells can
only be obtained by killing human embryos. With our
current technology, embryos-tiny human beings in the
embryonic stage, must be destroyed to get embryonic stem
cells. There are attempts to procure embryonic stem cells
without harming human embryos. Check our Congressional
Briefing

Embryonic Stem Cell Alternatives.
Why do pro-lifers and
other opponents to embryonic stem cell research always
talking about cloning? To overcome rejection issues.
It is unlikely that even if all of the embryos available
for research in fertility labs were turned into embryonic
stem cells lines, that those embryonic stem cell lines
would provide the genetic diversity necessary for mass
cures. Cloning for embryos is thought to be necessary to
overcome rejection issues by creating a near identical
genetic match by cloning the patient. Whether this can be
accomplished or not, there will be other issues to
overcome such as teratoma tumor formations and
among other things, exorbitant costs and procuring
unfertilized eggs from women-a risky procedure involving
drugs and surgery. Read more in our Congressional
