Pro-Life" Harry
Reid Opposes Anti-Coercion Abortion And Sterilization
Funding Amendment
What Makes Senator Harry
Reid "Pro-Life?"
Reid Also Votes To Give
Money To Organizations Promoting and Performing Abortions
In Other Nations.
It's no secret that forced
abortion, forced sterilization and forced implantation of
IUDs are being used to enforce China’s One Child Policy
that allows women and families to bear only one child.
Infanticide is also being used to enforce the policy by
killing some of the children who escaped notice in utero
of China’s communist government.
How bad is this? The
libertarian Cato Institute’s
Stephen Moore said, “this program will go down in
history as one of the greatest abuses of human rights in
the 20th century.” That program receives funding from the
UN Population Fund. If abortion advocates like Planned
Parenthood, NARAL and others get their way, you’ll help
pay for it in the 21st century.
OnSeptember 6,
2007 “pro-life” Senator Harry Reid
voted against
an amendment attached to the 2008 State/
Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2764)
“To prohibit funding of organizations that support
coercive abortion” -programs like China’s inhumane
One Child Policy funded by the UN Population Fund.
The
amendment says, “…none of the funds made available
in this Act nor any unobligated balances from prior
appropriations may be made available to any organization
or program which, as determined by the President,
supports, or participates in the management of, a program
of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.”
How can anyone vote to send American taxpayer dollars
to programs that deny women and families the right to
have children? It’s more unbelievable that those
who are so called advocates of “the right to choose” and
“reproductive freedom,” would have you to pay for this
policy with your tax dollars.
If communist China needs the money, they can get it from
their burgeoning military budget or by closing down
prisons for political prisoners.
Fortunately pro-life Nevada Senator John Ensign
voted for the amendment along with 47 other Senators and
the amendment passed 48-45. The ban on funding to groups
like the UN Population Fund which distributes funds
to carry out China’s brutal policy will stay in place.
Unfortunately, an
amendment to preserve the Mexico City Policy- a policy
that prohibits taxpayer funding for organizations that
perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family
planning in other nations, failed. “Pro-life” Harry
Reid voted against that too. Unless President Bush
vetoes the bill, which he has threatened to do, you will
be taxed to support and promote abortion in other
nations. This shows that abortion advocates don’t want
abortion to be rare at all. Taxpayers should NOT be used
to support or promote abortion. Not here. Not anywhere!
Another EVIL of the China
One Child Policy is that it TARGETS unborn baby girls
for abortion. The preference for boys and the one child
limitation has led millions to abort baby girls.
Estimates are that
70 percent of the abortions are unborn baby girls. As
a result, there are huge disparities between the
boy-girl ratios in China (119-100). Don’t expect NOW,
NARAL, Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and others to object
to targeting girls. Their arguments for abortion preclude
them telling anyone they can’t abort the child for being
the wrong gender.
Harry Reid says he’s
pro-life. Every time we see pro-choice Congressman Dean
Heller, he reminds us that he has a better pro-life voting
record than some of the other “pro-life” representatives
from Nevada. It’s up to the Senator to explain how
he can call himself pro-life when he opposes an amendment
to ban funds for coercive abortion and sterilization,
opposes an amendment to stop funding to groups promoting
and performing abortions in other countries and when other
“pro-choice” legislators have a better pro-life voting
record than he does.
Thanks to Senator Ensign for
his consistent pro-life votes.
