Theresa
Marie Schindler (Terri Schiavo)
Culture
Of Life Icon Dies of Starvation and Thirst.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 31, 2005
The
Following Statement Can Be Attributed To Nevada LIFE
President
Don Nelson
Theresa
Marie Schindler (Schiavo) died an undignified death
early this morning of starvation and dehydration.
Terri was sentenced to death though she was not dying.
She was not sick. She was not in a coma.
She was not suffering. She was not alone.
She was loved and her parents were willing to care for
her the rest of her life. There were plenty of
resources to care for Terri. Terri was not
“allowed to die.” She was killed and put to
death. It is illegal to treat animals and
criminals like Timothy McVeigh as Terri was.
Scott Peterson will meet his end with far more
dignity.
Terri’s
fate illustrates a concern of bio-ethicists across the
country. What do we do with cognitively disabled
people who won’t die? Their answer
demonstrates the spiritual and moral poverty of those
supporting and advocating her death. Love and
compassion-suffering along side of another, not death,
is the answer of what to do with cognitively disabled
people like Terri Schiavo. Every single
disability rights organization in America filed a
brief to support Terri. Terri’s death tells
them that our judiciary and public elite believe the
lives of the disabled are not worth living and that
it’s more compassionate to kill them than to let
them live. In Terri’s case, they believed they
were doing her a favor.
Terri’s
supporters are bewildered at what appears to be a
lusting for her death. What other explanation is there
for the psychotic arguments from the sanctity of
marriage that a husband should be able to dispose of
his wife while raising a family with another woman,
that this was a private matter or that starvation and
dehydration is peaceful or euphoric and etc?
None of these would be said in domestic abuse cases or
about the millions who have been starved in
concentration camps and North Korea.
Those
exacting Terri’s death believe they’ve won a great
victory and seek to make this an international case.
They could not be more wrong. Theresa Marie
Schindler (Schiavo) is the new Icon of the right to
life movement. Terri’s life and sufferings
will move millions against euthanasia and the culture
of death. Her suffering and death shine light on
the culture of darkness. Even now her suffering
reveals the humanity of those in the shadows of life
and exposes those who would do them harm. Her
life, her humanity and her passion will live in our
hearts forever. God bless Theresa Marie
Schindler who bore her suffering with grace this
Passion Week, AD 2005.
